Koenigsegg Automotive AB, along with their US distribution partner Manhattan Motorcars, is pleased to announce the North American debut of the new Koenigsegg Regera at the New York Auto Show. The Regera will be shown in production specification following its recent global debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.

Koenigsegg Regera at New York Auto Show

The Regera is an automotive revolution unto itself, combining three electric motors and an internal combustion engine to deliver an astonishing 1500 hp directly to the rear wheels – with no gearbox. The Koenigsegg Direct Drive system has replaced the traditional transmission, meaning less weight and minimized transmission losses. It uses power from the electric motors combined with just a single final drive to deliver a seamless driving experience that is a first in the automotive industry.

The world’s first ‘Megacar’ will also be shown in New York – the Koenigsegg One:1. The One:1 is named for its power-to-weight ratio, with 1 Megawatt or 1,360hp to match its 1,360kg curb weight; a world first for a production car. The One:1 set speed records at Suzuka Curcuit and Spa-Francorchamps in 2015, along with an acceleration record from 0-300kmh-0 (186mph), achieved in an astonishing 17.95 seconds. Only 7 examples exist and the display car is the only One:1 that resides in the United States.

Knowing that the only One:1 in the US is privately owned, it was nice of the owner to submit his car to be displayed! I really want to go see it, but distance is a pro

Has the Regera gone on sale in the U.S.? Will the model displayed be on sale here in the future? I may have missed that in an earlier post 🙂

    Hey there Mr. Wade!

Glad to see that you guys at Koenigsegg have secured yet another foothold in the American Arena for hypercar selling. I bet the guys at Manhattan Motorcars are as pleased as punch to add your amazing cars to their arsenal. I wish you guys luck for a fruitful and everlasting relationship with them!;)

I also think you guys are great to be bringing the Regera AND the One:1 to U.S. shores, for everyone to see during the New York Auto Show! And like Kyle said above, the owner must be quite the nice guy to let his pride and joy be put on for display for the entirety of the show!
    Thumbs up for that!:D

I wonder if we can ask him to be a bit nicer and allow you guys to borrow his car to set just a few more lap records around the world? Just another ambitious thought. I think we should let him be the judge of that.

Waiting for the events of the New York Auto Show,
    Nimalan S. R.

Can you please keep the Regera there the whole time, I’m going on the last day of the show because I’m taking someone only available that day, and of course it’s not staying until then, why!?

    Hi Mr Koenigsegg
I have a question about the direct drive system on the Regera. I know this is the first direct drive system used in the commercially available car, but in the US, the funny car and top fuel series of NHRA has been using direct drive all along, so how does the Regera system compare to the NHRA dragsters? Are they machanically different in some ways?

I have a question. I will be going on March 25 an hour before public access. Will Mr. von Koenigsegg be there?
