The LSTT – Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission
The revolutionary Light Speed Transmission has been redesigned to maximise performance in the Koenigsegg Gemera.
Meet the Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission.
Why Tourbillon?
Multiple technologies at Koenigsegg are inspired by the meticulous craftsmanship of Swiss watches. The Chronocluster, for example. In a similar manner, the Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission is named after the horological term ‘Tourbillon’, which refers to a mechanical complication that increases a watch’s accuracy.
A nod to Swiss watchmaking

“We added tourbillon to the name of the LST, as this mechanism represents
the automotive equivalent of a high-end Swiss watch and is simply beautiful,”
explains Christian von Koenigsegg.
About the Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission
The Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission (LSTT) is a variant of the Light Speed Transmission as first seen in the Koenigsegg Jesko. The LSTT uses gear-train cassettes that wrap around the engine and provide drive to the rear wheels as well as a front-facing driveshaft. This added complexity is what makes the LSTT unique and differentiates it from the regular LST.
The 9-speed gear cluster in the LSTT is very closely related to the cluster in the Jesko and CC850’s LST configurations. Due to the layout of the Gemera, however, which benefits from the Dark Matter e-motor, there is no need for a reverse gear or a separate starter motor on the LSTT.
This simplifies the gearbox internals and housing, and ‘adds lightness’ compared to the regular LST. A supremely elegant solution.
“We could not resist exploring the possibility of incorporating these remarkable features and benefits into the Gemera production model,” Christian explains. This temptation brought along the invention of a new, evolved LST – the LSTT, which was designed specifically for the Gemera.
How the LSTT came to exist
